What have you lost that you wish you still had?
Submitted by gunderson bee.
MY MIND!!! I'm not sure what I would do with it... I try not to live in the past much so I can't say that there is a lot that I spend a lot of time thinking about. However "Nature's first green is gold. Her hardest hue to hold. Her early leafs a flower but only so an hour. Then day subsides to day, and natures turned to gray." I think we all miss that a little.
Are you planning on doing any spring cleaning this year? If so, please share a cleaning tip you swear by.
Spring Cleaning... I'm not the most organized person in the world so my house become cluttered (the problem is my wife is the same way). It's not that we are that dirty...we are just terrible about organizing and throwing things out. SO my spring cleaning is clean everything as I attempt to organize it (like should have been done on a daily basis all year long). Funny this question got ask because I've spent the last couple evenings moving matresses to vacum under, organizing shelves...etc. Note that I haven't posted anything since the weekend. Spring cleaning was the reason for it. Happy cleaning everyone.
Someone's writing a biography of your life (to date). What is the best/worst chapter of the book?
Submitted by Ross.Wow...thats an interesting question. I lead a very boring (yet extremely busy life). One of my favorite stories (I don't know if it would be a chapter) is when I was in college and I went Scuba diving in Key Largo. One dive was a night dive in a ship wreck off the coast. Night dives are interesting in that you feel like your in a cave. It's SOOOO easy to get lost if you watch your compass and worse you can only see such a small area around you. Anyway we are about 30-35 ft under water and we were going through this ship that had sunk when it hit reef when a school of paranas swam through the sight. Those things are the scariest looking fish you'll ever see. They are long and skinny and have needles for teeth. We were actually under the school as they swam over us. They really payed no attention to us but I keep my hands and fingers next to my body...you know big fish - little fish. They can see fingers and attack them as little fish. Meanwhile there was a storm moving in off in the distance but at see you can see the lightening for some distance so there was lightening in the background to top it off. I was never really scared but it was one of those things in life you can't really describe. It was however one of the coolest things I've every seen. The next day we drove into Key West and dove in a reef on the south side of the island where a Parana mistook me for lunch. I was swimming up one of the finger in the reef and it appeared, comes to within inches of my face, showed it's teeth, and then circled up and followed me (and my partner) for almost 10 minutes of our dive (that did scare me). I don't dive anymore but that trip was one of my most interesting stories every.
What are five words you really like?
Submitted by purplesque.
5 Words I really like.... ow so many bad jokes, so little time.
1. Passion- Everyone should have something they are passionate about (and not just in a horny way)
2. Truth- There is only one and that is it
3. Lagoon- It makes me think of a warm quite place on an island where you're not over run by people and you can just relax in peace.
4. Food- I know it sounds like a joke but I love food. I'll try darn near anything once. A life untasted is a life unlived!
5. Lucky- Everyday that we wake up... everytime we go to work...everyday that we are here is a lucky day. Life is not just the highs. One thing that I always tell the kids I coach..."Failure is not in losing, it is never trying." We are all one idiot running a red light away from death, "not to dwell on this dying thing", but we are lucky for SO many reasons. We are lucky for the things we have and the things that tomorrow will bring..."God created us to be co-creaters of his world", never underestimate how we effect the world.
I know, Lagoon doesn't seem to fit but think about how nice it would be to be setting on a deserted tropical island relaxin and watching the ocean. That's the image that always goes through my mind when I hear that word. I stuck with Engish on this one... my favorite word is actually spanish but I just like the sound of it.
What's the best book you read this year?
The Camel Club was the best book I read all year. It's the first of a series by David Baldacci (2nd being The Collectors) which I am currently reading the 3rd book of the series "Stone Cold". If you like mystery/ suspence/ conspiracy books I woud tell you to pick it up. It is my favorite book of all time.
What was the last wedding you went to? Were you in the wedding?
Last wedding I went to... The last wedding I went to was for my college room mate (and best friend). I was one of the groomsmen. What a wild wedding, I'll just share a couple of the stories that can be retold. For starters, we went to the Dave Mathews concert on the Friday night and drank a little too much. Well anyway I got up early and ran, showered and was working on a groomsmen speech (completely in Yoda) when Collin (Another groomsmen and hungover) decided to go for a run and get some of the alcohol out of his system. My wife agreed to go run with him. These 2 are the most directionally challenged people on the face of the earth. So they come back to the "room" and Collin knocks on the door and preceeds to do the Tommy Boy impression with the "Room Service you want me fluff your pillow" upon conclusion of that he yells "ok numb nuts open the door" the guy who opened the door was about 6'5" 280 lbs...we'll say they came back to the wrong room. The bridzilla required the that the groomsmen be at the church at 9:30 am for the pictures at 2:30 pm to "get ready"...yeah right that happened. Collin who's suit I brought for him, forgot his shoes, white shirt, black socks, and underwear...he did however remember his running cloths, which is ironic since he was a pole vaulter in school. When we got to the reception, we were not allow to enter until we were anounced, which was about an hour and a half after we arrived, SO we played wiffleball in the parking lot (ow and drank "some" beer)... the reception was in the Yaught Club, the bride was NOT happy. I have edited this story to protect those involved and to avoid further incrimination of myself.
What would you consider to be your 15 minutes of fame so far in life?
Wow, I'm not sure I can say I've had a true 15 minutes of fame. Not on any real scale. I did however invent the internet...wait that was Al Gore. That really should answer the question of how Bush ever got elected president, not so much because he deserved it but because we didn't have anyone good to choose from. As for 15 minutes of fame...I guess the only thing close would have been in high school. I use to run the 1600, 800, 3200, and the 4 x 400 every meet, so the local newspaper guys liked me because I always did whatever it took for my team to win. Which meant the main picture on the sports page was always of me. By the end of the season little kids would ask me to sign stuff for them. As a distance runner that's about as cool as it ever gets. However as a distance runner, that's as close to 15 minutes of fame as you'll ever get. After all, Alan Webb just ran a 3:46 mile (not 1600..MILE!) and unless you have some conection to main stream racing, you never even heard about it. That's sad. For you runners, I think you can find it on youtube, but it will kill your self esteem because he was ROLLING.
Would you go on vacation by yourself, and if so where would you go?
Submitted by Sean & Stefan.
No. Part of the fun going places is enjoying the trip with friends and loved ones. As for where I want to go...Seattle and Maine are the top of my travel lists.
