Due to illness I'm not able to run for the next few days. Which sucks because I was hitting 80's for my weeks before this but I should be back at it soon. (I just keep telling myself I needed a couple days off). Anyway...Since I have no running to talk about, I thought it was about time I finally posted a picture of my D-O-G since I always reference her but have never put a picture up. So here she is...
She's not a fan of summer since she doesn't get to run much in the summer but I try to take her out for a morning here and there...
Useless information for you, my buddy Tom made the Running Times ranking list again finally. He was in the rankings 2 years ago but then fell out after an injury plagued 2006. While 2007 was much stronger it seemed like every "big" race that he had didn't count on their ranking list. So now he's back on there ranks list.
I should be mended soon and ready to get the miles back up. I have several big races coming up myself and it's really hard to take days off this time of the year. Don't forget the Olympic Trials will be next week. Don't miss them. We have some VERY exciting races. (Not just because I have 2 former team mates running)
Seven pounds is the amount of weight the average American gains between Thanksgiving and New Years. So even it's cold and dark (and it is this time of year) make yourself get out the door. My total mileage is down right now but it's just because I'm shifting training gears for the next few months. My goal is to break 15:00 again for 5K. It's been 6 years since I last did it sooooo we'll see. Lilo is having a little post-marathon recovery. I took her with us to my parents for Thanksgiving. My parents live on a 85 acre "farm". Which in and of itself that might seem like the problem... it was not. My parents have a springer/ lab mix. Cody can jump into the back of my dads truck... with the tail gate UP. We'll say it would be like me moving to Kenya for a training weekend. So Lilo has been in a lump on the floor since we got home. Funny how all the soarness seems to go away anytime I have food!?! Anyway, I hope everyones Thanksgiving was great and remember it's easier to get out the door now and keep the 7 off then get it back off after New Years. (SO much easier said than done)
So my dog Lilo is back in trianing mode...She's a black lab mix and she can't handle heat so all summer she sulks around upset that I won't take her for runs. ( I do take her but she ends up in a puddle on the bathroom floor after a 2 mile run) She's working her milage back up. She was mad at me this morning because I didn't do a morning run so she getting a day off. I don't know if dogs can get strss fractures but I can tell when she needs a day off, she really lags back. She's part chow too, that's why shes so bitter when she doesn't get what she wants. I only take her on morning runs...2-5 miles depending on the day of the week.
We had a fast (FAST workout on Tuesday (No Dog). 2 x 800 - 2x 400 - 2 x 200 (2:28/ 2:25) (1:06/ 1:04) (27/ 29). It wasn't a big milage workout but it was shock to the system from the workouts we usually do.
Best wishes!
