CRAZY!!!

Comments

The week is crazy. I'm going to chill this week and recover from the Mini and training. I'm going nuts already as my legs are beat up, yet fresh (i.e., not "tired"). Especially with the lack of miles last week. Go Crazee

LOL....It's been my goal never sounds cool.

Now running and finishing a 50 miler, thats waaaaaay cool. (Says the girl who was ok with running 2.3 miles today. Meh!

Are you referring to the Striders NCT 50 mile run? That was my first (and only, so far) ultra, back in 2006.

You're crazy for running as fast as you do! Given that, everything else you do running-wise just makes sense. :)
That's the one. What's the skinny on this course? The course description says it's hilly in spots but that can mean million different things in the world of ultra running.
Cool! The course is awesome, almost entirely shaded by forest yet very runnable, no bushwhacking or washouts or anything. Mostly rolling hills - some flat stretches, some short "roller coaster" type up-and-downs but nothing major - but there two significant hill sections.

The first is around mile 1 (and 26) which is a moderately steep hill about half a mile long, seemingly going upwards forever because most of it runs in a straight line.

The second is a switchback at mile 10 (and 35) that's steep but still runnable, although I walked it. The backside of this hill is a nice, long downhill that's not very steep and very refreshing to run.

You'll love this race - Striders does a great job and the scenery is wonderful. If you have time to kill, I wrote up a long 16-part race report - you might enjoy some of the details, like a listing of all the aid stations.

Although my main goal is a 100K this August, I'm hoping that I'll be able to run the Striders NCT run again this year. 50 miles sure makes a marathon seem short!
